History: A Family Affair.
People often ask us how we got our start and many already know that, officially, we started out in the fall of 1992 in a converted hot dog stand on the corner of Belmont and Harlem. Unofficially, TBK’s roots trace all the way back to our mother’s kitchen. As with most families, our kitchen was the heart of our home and our mother’s meals were always made with love, steeped in tradition and, of course, delicious! As our family has grown, so too has the TBK family. At all of our locations, it’s that tradition and sense of family that we at TBK pass onto our customers. We’ve surpassed the competition by putting our customers first. When we’re cooking for you, we’re cooking for family!
Environment
At TBK, we’re very proud to be known for more than just great food; we’re keeping up with state-of-the-art equipment that while keeping the environment in mind. All of our kitchens are operated with the latest and most efficient equipment in the restaurant industry. Our Belmont and Long location which houses our main kitchen, was the first restaurant in the country to incorporate solar energy to heat water.
Heating water directly with solar thermal, TBK utilizes and energy that is renewable, pollution-free and, more importantly, reduces our dependence on foreign energy. Our solar panels allow for the use of the most natural resource; it’s affordable, reliable and maintenance free.
In addition to our solar panels, the parking lots of our locations in Niles and Belmont & Long use permeable pavers in the parking lots. These pavers help the environment by allowing water, such as storm water or melted snow, to filter through the surface and drain into the underlying soil. This drainage keeps water pollutants out or our natural waterways, protecting the quality of our water supplies. Just another way that TBK is utilizing a natural resource and helping our environment!
